Popped and Paired

For many the labour day weekend signifies the end of summer.  But to me it is one last opportunity to attend an amazing outdoor bbq or picnic with those that you love.  SkinnyPop has made it really easy to help jazz up your next get together.  Bring any of these drink and popcorn pairings along and you are sure to be the hit of the party!  My favorite pairing below is the white peach sangria and naturally sweet popcorn.  What a great thing to bring for dessert after your meal!  I also love anything sweet!

SkinnyPop makes seven flavors of popcorn.  With so many to choose from the combinations of drinks and popcorn are endless!  Plus their popcorn is GMO free and gluten and preservative free.  What better way to induldge in a delicious healthy snack.

Summer Casual

Pants - Dex || Top - Z Supply || Necklace - Stella & Dot || Sandals - Vionic || Sunnies - Coach || Watch - Michael Kors

From the moment I tried this outfit on at Ella the Shop I knew it would be my summer go to.  It is stylish, comfortable and so easy.  It was great for a day of shopping, at the beach or travelling.  I seriously reached for this outfit everytime it was in my drawer.  An outfit that feels like pyjamas but looks pulled together?  Yes please!

Some of you may remember that I hurt my back in the spring.  (My cute heels are still crying in my closets).  I searched high and low for supportive footwear.  When I stumbled upon these sandals from Vionic I thought I would give them a try.  They have arch support and orthaheel technology, and provide proper alignment from the ground up.  I am happy to say my back is on it's way to being healed and I think it is due in large part to these sandals.  I am going to try a pair of their flats for work this fall.  If you are looking for cute and supportive footwear I highly reccomend them!  Have a great weekend I am off to my cousin's wedding today!

Wedding Guest Style Guide

Trying to decide what to wear to a wedding can always be tricky.  The Black Tux has put together this awesome wedding guest style guide to help you decide what to wear based on the type of wedding that you will be attending.

First, make sure you know what kind of event you will be attending.  The venue it is being held at is always a good indication of the type of attire you should wear.  If you are still unsure of the dress code, talk to others that are attending to see what they are going to wear.  If needed lookup the venue online so you can see how fancy the event will be.

Second, finding the perfect outfit.  Ladies when selecting a dress to wear make sure you are comfortable in it.  You do not want anything that you feel is too short, or doesn't fit right, as you will be conscious of it all night and will not enjoy the wedding as much.  Also, try to find out the colour of the bridesmaid dresses so you don't end up showing up in the same colour.  I had this happen to me once.  Luckily, my husband was in the wedding party so it didn't look so bad, but I would not want it to happen again.  I felt slightly akward to say the least.  Also keep in mind if the weddin is outside you may want to bring a blazer or jacket to wear with your outfit.

Guys finding the right suit or tux can be challenging as well.  Finding the right suit or tux is key to looking your best. With so many styles and colours to choose from, you are sure to find something you like.

Third, proper footwear.  Those 6 inch stillettos may look cute but after the ceremony and dancing all night your feet are going to be sore.  Choose footwear that compliment your outfit and you will be able to dance in all night long.  If you want you can always change your footwear in between the ceremony and reception.  Having great footwear is a must, your feet will thank you.

Fourth, have fun.  Enjoy the party.  If the wedding is your date night enjoy every minute and make memories to last.

I'm off to my cousins wedding this weekend.  Looking forward to it !  Congrats to Sam and Rich! #sammarriesrich

Local Love: Ella the Shop

Ok guys.  Seriously, have you been to Ella the shop?  It is the cutest and newest addition to the uptown shopping scene.  It is located on Prince William street just down from Piece O'Cake (fashion and cupcakes?  Yes please!)

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a private shopping event to kick off their summer sale.  It was a sale with 40% off all their spring and summer stock.  It was a great chance to stock up on those spring/summer items you had been wanting.  Besides shopping there was also wine and cupcakes, what more could a girl ask for?

They also have a fabulous app to buy and sell used clothing and accessories.   Worried about having to meet up when buying or selling?  They make it easy with their Ella closet.  How it works: drop off your item that is being purchased during their business hours and the buyer can stop by at their convenience.  They do charge 20% of your asking price if the item sells, but to me it is worth it!   No more meeting in a parking lot or trying on clothes in the bathroom of Tim Hortons.

Next time you are in uptown Saint John, be sure to stop by and see Kelly and the lovely ladies at Ella.  Guys, looking for a gift for that special girl in your life?  The Ella ladies can help you find the perfect item, and a gift card is always a great idea!  See them for all your back to school shopping and fall fashion needs.  You won't be disappointed!

Three Times

Dress - Lakefield & Co || Necklace - Stella & Dot || Shoes - c/o Sole Society || Watch - MIchael Kors

This dress is easily my new favorite.  I wore it three times in one week; to my graduation from my masters, to my dance recital and then out to see Riverdance.  Wow what a week, and what a dress!  This seriously is the best dress and here is why: 1.  You can never go wrong with a LBD.  2.  This dress is so comfy I feel like I am wearing pyjamas.  3.  And best of all by purchasing this dress I supported a local company (lakefield & co.) and a local shop (Ella the Shop).  I love being able to support local!  If you haven't checked out Lakefield & Co. be sure to follow them on instagram @lakefield_co.  For all your Lakefield & Co. needs be sure to stop uptown and see the lovely ladies at Ella on Prince William street, and be sure to follow them on instagram for updates @ellatheshop.
